This scenario is NOT copyrighted, and can be freely copied. However, no
one may ask any payment for this scenario, except after having contacted
the author. If copied, this .ZIP file MUST contain all the files it
originally contained (as described at the end of this text file). I am
not responsible for any damage, malfunction, etc. this scenario may cause.
The scenario itself is created by me, except for the map, and most of my
icons I got from many places on the Internet. You may use any of my units
in your scenario.

Thanks:
First and foremost thanks belongs to Allard Hofelt for help with the
graphics. He created the marvelous industrial city images, provided
the icons and assisted in making the units look good. Other thanks belongs
to Stewart Spink for providing three units: Militia, Recruits, and Scout.
I would also like to thank Harlan Thompson for the Mountain terrains. In
addition, I would like to thank all of the playtesters including Jesus
Balsinde, David Floyd, Bill Hebel, Allard Hofelt, and all others. Finally,
I would like to thank Sid Meier for doing a bang-up job with this game.
My hat goes off to you, Sid.

Premise:
By early 1860, falsified treaties, thieving
traders, and expansionist settlers had soured American
relations with the Plains tribes to a point they could
no longer stand. Their way of life was being taken away
from before their eyes, but August 18, 1862 marked the
start of the final stage of warfare between whites and
the Native Americans, ending with the brutal massacre
at Wounded Knee.
As the leader of one of the powerful Central
Plains tribes, you must defend your people from the
Americans by any means. Your sole mission is war, and
if you can survive until February, 1891, your mission is
complete. However, I reccomend you aim at total removal
of the Americans from the Great Plains. Here is your
chance to change the course of history (in a scenario,
not in reality, of course!).

Difficulty:

Any of the tribes will be fun to play, but there is a
variation in difficulty between the tribes. The Sioux
and Cheyenne are easier than the other tribes. The
Comanches are a little more difficult, and the Kiowa and
Arapaho tribes are the most difficult. I am not sure how
fun it will be to play the Americans, but you might want
to give it a try.

Historical Accuracy:

I tried to make this scenario relatively accurate, but
could not do certain things due to a few factors. For
one thing, the point of an historical scenario is to
alter history, so certain things couldn't be included
for gameplay purposes. Other things are very accurate,
though. For example, at the end of the civil war, the
Americans get a tech leap and better units start to come
out west. This is completely accurate. Same goes for the
map, all of the roads and railroads, and placement of
cities. One thing could not be duplicated though, and
that was the tendency for Plains tribes to be nomadic.
So instead, I made some battle sites be cities for the
Indians. This isn't too bad because these areas are
where there were a high concentration of the tribe
anyway. Just think of the city radius as a buffalo herd
or a general area rather than a city.

Without scenario disk: Backup all TXT and GIF files, unzip into your civ2
scenario, and start a game as above in the \civ2 dirctory.

Hints and Strategies:

I won't bother doing this unless people want it. If you
do, contact me and I will send you a .txt file full of
hints and strategies.

Images:

All images in this scenario are free for use in any scenario or
anything else you want to use it for. All images created by me will
have a "ALH" next to it, and all images created by Allard Hofelt will
have "AH" next to it. I will not mark the ocean squares that I have made,
but I will let you know that all of the ocean squares in terrain2.gif
are created by me. There are some graphics to whom I am not sure who to
credit. If you are the author of a graphic I have used, let me know, and
I will credit you fully with it.
